As an effort to help preserve Palatka's historic neighborhoods and downtown, a Cultural Resource Survey was begun on July 1, 1980. Its objectives were to identify the unique historic buildings and revitalize the economy of the central commercial district and encourage revitalization of older neighborhoods. As a result of this survey, the two Historic Districts were created in 1982 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The North Historic
District is bounded roughly by the Click HERE to view a copy of the Cultural Resource Survey. The actual street by street, residence by residence assessment files are housed in the Palatka Headquarters of the Putnam County Library System and may be viewed there.
